Think pink

If you haven’t already guessed from looking at my blog logo, pink is my favorite color.  Pink is soothing, it’s cheery and it wasn’t always girly. In fact, until the 1940s pink was considered a a color for boys because it was more closely related to red, which was a strong, and blue was for girls because it was softer (thanks wikipedia). Nowadays pink is almost exclusively used for girls’ rooms but there is no reason why everyone, regardless of age or gender, shouldn’t add at least a touch of pink to their home decor.  Continue reading →

Getting in the mood

I just discovered my new favorite time waster.

It’s called Olioboard and it’s a digital mood board creator. Apparently it’s been around for like a year but I guess I am just jumping on the digital mood board band wagon. I personally like doing stuff the old fashioned way; ya know cut out pictures from magazines or collect stuff online to print out when your ready to go shopping, but I have to admit, even for a print lover like me, this is pretty sweet. Shopping trip: Carolina Pottery

All that glitters... is not gold, it's silver.

For me, no weekend could be complete without a shopping trip to a home decor store, and this weekend was no exception. I decided to hit up Carolina Pottery since I had never been there and I constantly see their commercials (and hear their jingles) on TV all the time. This particular Carolina Pottery is located in an old Sam’s Club so saying the place is huge is an understatement. The boyfriend naturally assumed all they had was a bunch of pottery but boy was he wrong. They seemed to carry a bit of everything. They had patio furniture, fake plants, kitchen goods, glassware, home decor items, lighting, wine(!)  and of course pottery. Continue reading →
