A painter’s progress

So the repainting of the living is in mid swing and I thought I’d give you guys a first look into what has become of my living room.

After trying out some old paint colors and raiding Lowe’s for swatches I went with Valspar Hazy Stratus. I had the lighter shade, Urban Sunrise, in the bedroom for a bit but in that room it looked way too blue. It looked fine in the living room but it was just too light and I wasn’t really getting any contrast with all my white accessories (since I am currently obsessed with white spray paint now).

Of course a paint color always looks different on the walls than in the paint can or a swatch so after testing it on one wall I was off to the painting races.

Doesn’t my place just look lovely? We really like the new avant-garde furniture arrangement.

Don’t worry, I’m not THAT bad of a painter, it was still drying when I took this photo but I think you can really see the contrast in colors here. Look how dark the original blue gray is in comparison. I think this is going look a lot brighter considering those sliding doors are the only “windows” in the living room.

So what do you think so far? Have any gray painting success (or horror) stories to share? Tell me about ‘em!
