Change for a charger

A few days ago I was in my favorite store, Target, when I spied their new holiday dinnerware collection. While I was immediately annoyed that it wasn’t even Halloween yet and the Christmas decorations were already coming out, I was also a little excited to see all the pretty silvery plates and serve-ware. I especially had my eye on their collection of chargers. While they were under $5 each, I knew I had some old chargers at home, and I figured I could come up with something pretty cool for even cheaper.

I had originally purchased some sparkly gold chargers from Linens ‘N’ Things during their store closing sale. While I have never been a huge “gold” person, sparkly always seems to catch my eye.

I figured I could use my metallic nickel spray paint (since I won’t be eating off of them) so they would match with the rest of the house a bit better when I suddenly had an idea…

What about a texture?

I decided that before I sprayed them down with paint, I would spritz water onto them using a little spray bottle. Just enough to get a nice mist of bubbles on the charger.

It worked. The mist of water on the charger before they spray painting created a great tiny bubble-y texture.

I think the best part is that you can see the gold under some of the larger bubbles. It is pretty much the perfect blend of gold and silver for my house.

Here is the finished product on my dining room table.

If you have been following my pinterest account you know that I have been pinning a lot of fall tablescapes so hopefully my new fall table will be done soon and the new chargers will be a perfect compliment.
