Obviously Thanksgiving is a time to think about what we are thankful for and for the past week I have been doing that and one of the things I am most thankful for is this blog.
This blog, for those who don’t know, originally was started as a hobby for me when I lost my job last March. The blog had a different name (Suburban Settlers) and was hosted by WordPress because I was scared about spending money to pay for hosting and a domain. Less than a month after losing my job I found a new one and started working but I still kept up my blog. I really enjoyed it and I did my best to still make time for it. A co-worker encouraged me to get a domain name and hosting and have a real site. He knew I loved writing about decorating and entertaining and told me I should do what I love. His words stuck with me and a short while later The Joy of Decorating was born.
This blog has given me so much. For one it has given me an outlet to talk about my successes and failures in design. It has also has given me the opportunity to meet some other amazing bloggers that I am delighted to call my friends. It’s more than just a hobby now, it’s part of who I am.
I just want to say thank you for all the comments on the blog, the likes on Facebook and the re-tweets on Twitter. I read all of them and I am so grateful for everyone who reads this. I hope you enjoy what I write and seeing how I try to incorporate design into my life.
Many thanks and happy belated Thanksgiving.
