The joy of scarves

Alright, I know scarves are NOT home decor but that’s why my blog is home decor and more! This is the “more” part.

First of all, I love scarves! Anyone who knows me knows I will wear a scarf anytime of the year. I have literally have a scarf for every season. I also have a similar love for cardigans, but that’s another post.

So of course when day when I was cruising Pinterest I saw these posts about DIY scarves from t-shirts so I decided to give it a shot. The one I really liked was a braided scarf that was sold on etsy, but I felt like I should start with something more basic. This is seriously the easiest craft project I’ve ever done and you don’t even need a sewing machine! If you have an old t-shirt and scissors you can make this.

So first start out with a soft t-shirt. I got this super cool t-shirt at Goodwill for $1.29. I recommend getting at least a small men’s shirt or a medium women’s shirt so you have enough fabric.

Next cut the shirt into 2″ strips. Don’t worry, you don’t need to measure this part, just eyeball. Also don’t worry about how straight the cuts are. My pieces were all jagged.

After you cut the strips, stretch them out so they start to curl into themselves. This is why you don’t need to worry about cutting straight. So all that’s left after that is to put it on!

You can wear it long…

or double it up and wear it short!

You can even add a flower pin!

So there ya go, the simplest project EVAR and it will totally get you ready for cooler weather. Happy fall!
